Accuracy and synesthesia

Comparing texts visually is difficult. We call upon synesthesia to help us. Each number/letter gets its own colour. Go ahead and find the differences! There is a good chance that after a while the number/colour or letter/colour association will become stronger and you will remember numbers like Daniel Tammet.

Each text
rows columns of
Numbers (novice)
Letters (expert)
out of them only symbols
are different.

  1. For how long should I practice?

It would be nice if the letters wouldn’t move so much when clicking on a difference. It becomes difficult to know on which row you were before you clicked because the rows on the left and right sides no longer match.

    Thank you!

    1. I think 3-4 months, 15 min a day (this specific exercise)
Try applying for the mobile app beta.
We are planning to add this particular exercise before the end of 2017.

  2. – Specifically what is the usefulness of this exercise with respect to speed reading and memorization, apart from enhancing synesthesia?
    – What is a good goal to shoot at?
    Thanks.

    1. The colors bring out patterns we would otherwise miss. This enables better memorization and creativity. Many genius people have synesthesia, so inducing synesthesia might make you more successful.

  3. Do i have to focus on the colours and compare them, while ignoring the meaning (of the numbers or letters) or do i actually read the numbers/letters and compare them?

    1. I think that consciously you should be comparing meaning, but unconsciously you will be comparing colors until you get strong association between color and meaning.

  4. great exercise awesome website. I would like to just point out the one flop on this one. when choosing to increase the columns or rows while it spits out more numbers or letters, the little box that it is contained in doesn’t bulk up, it stays small. so if a letter column greater than 8 is generated there’s an issue! the last letter or letters end up shifting down on one side and it throws off the line line-up next to it. so then the whole thing is lop-sided, or unbalanced. Just put in numbers or letters greater than 8 and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
    Thanks!

    1. Thank you. You are right. Added to the bug list in low priority:
There is no reason to use more than 8 columns, I simply forgot to check it in the code. Please increase then number of rows instead.

    1. I am sorry, I do not really understand what exercise you are looking for.
The exercises are built to develop a specific skill, not to show you the universe through someone’s eyes.
10 years for now there probably will be glasses that do just that…

      1. Well, I think that he remembers every day of his life (or it was someone else with synesthesia), the date, and can tell you that day of week, what month, etc. it was because he can see the colour of the day, for example monday has always blueish colour and according to the shade (darker,lighter..) he knows what day it was, the same goes for months and years I think

  5. To whom this may concern,

I think this is a very good exercise. I would just like to share some ways it could be improved. It would be beneficial to see all the differences after you submit your clicks. Also the feedback comments seem to be rather negative – even after getting all the right clicks in under 15 seconds, it still told me to go faster. More encouraging and positive feedback would be helpful.
